About
Rakhee holds a Ph.D. from University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and is passionate about finding solutions for climate change.
With 16 years of experience in higher education in South Africa and a solid foundation in climate-related research, I developed this website with the goal of employing my experience, knowledge and expertise to build climate resilience in Africa.
Experience
Climate researcher (2020-current)
Built a strong foundation in climate sciences. Participated in multiple online international and national webinars and meetings (including Future Earth’s Pathways Initiative Forum). Presented at Future Earth’s General Assembly as part of my nomination to Governing Council. Engaged with national and international scientists and stakeholders. Advanced my knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals, Transdisciplinary research, extreme weather events, climate-related water scarcity, early warning systems and so much more.
Lecturer (2012-2020)
Attracted funding to establish a platform for climate-related water scarcity in South Africa. Served on multiple higher education committees (including National Research Foundation’s Advisory Panel). Received an academic Excellence Award. Contributed to IPCC AR5 as expert reviewer. As project manager, I secured and managed funding for National Science Week 2019, delivered public lectures and presented at a school (“Facing the harsh realities of climate change) to increase climate literacy in South Africa.
